WERRINGTON Schools' Holiday Club signed off for the summer with a splash.
On one of the few August days with sunshine, the group threw a barbecue and beach party to celebrate a fun-packed six weeks.

More than 60 children from primary schools in Werrington attended the summer holiday club, which was based at the Learning Family Centre, at the Welbourne Primary School site, in Goodwins Walk.

Holiday club leader Trish Vaughan said: "The youngsters had a great six weeks having fun painting, doing crafts, cooking, kite flying and going on local trips.

"They have also been acting out weekly themes covering nature, flight, countries, pirates and the seaside.

"The beach party really was to say a real big thank-you to all the kids, as well as the staff."

The holiday club was run through the Werrington Extended Schools Team. It will be running a club during the next half-term holiday in October.

The opening times will again be between 8am and 6pm, at the Welbourne school site.
