BOOKWORMS in the city are being offered the chance to meet a well-known crime writer.
Tess Gerritsen, author of works including The Surgeon and Life Support, will give a presentation at the John Clare Theatre, in Broadway.

The Central Library and Waterstones have teamed up to bring the author to Peterborough as part of a tour to coincide with the release of her latest book.

Fans will have the chance to ask the author questions and purchase signed copies of The Bone Garden, on Wednesday, with the event starting at 1pm.

Reader services advisor Elaine Wilkinson said: "Book signings in shops are great, but the beauty of this is that she will be able to do a talk about her work as well as answer questions from her readers.

"It's a unique opportunity because she lives in the USA and doesn't come to Britain very often, so it's a rare chance to meet her. A lot of the presentation will be about her research, how she finds the information for her detailed forensic thrillers. It will be a chance to discover how she gets the hard hitting ideas.

"Forensic crime writing is very popular. It takes you into the other side of crime from the scientists' point of view rather than a straight forward story about police tracking someone down.

"Her work is very gripping, once you start reading your attention is caught and you can't put it down."
