The Government should help to protect businesses from the effects of the economic downturn, not add to their rates costs, the Forum of Private Business (FPB) is arguing.
The FPB is concerned that scrapping Empty Property Rate Relief has already left many small firms out of pocket. In addition, the burden of funding Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) mean some of the FPB's members are paying more money for little in return.
