All nominated companies will then be posted an easy-to-complete entry form to the Business Awards.
But companies can also chose to enter themselves by contacting the Evening Telegraph for an entry form.
There will be the staging of a finalists' breakfast that will feature all the companies shortlisted in the various award categories.
And this year, veteran TV and radio presenter Jeremy Vine will host the final in a glittering awards ceremony in November.
Award judges and sponsors are now urging business owners and managers across the region to make sure they enter their firms in the competition which will celebrate the strength and variety of Peterborough's business community.
Among those firms which have already entered is Rockingham Retirement, which entered its first ever business awards at the Peterborough Evening Telegraph awards last year.
Head of marketing Laura Goodman said: "It was exceptional for us that we made it into the final on our first attempt.
"It is very important to be recognised in this way for our customer service strategy, particularly in the financial services industry.
"Our customers are making one of the most important decisions in their lives, to achieve the highest retirement income available, and they deserve to receive the best customer service possible.
"To be recognised for the quality of our customer service within our region has been so important to us and the Evening Telegraph has given us a great deal of opportunity to realise this."
