Martyn Hopkins, of the city's Stoneacre Suzuki dealership, is top dog when it comes to Suzuki GB technicians.
He fought off stiff competition from four other finalists in the Automobile Technicians category to win the annual Suzuki GB Automobile Technician of the Year trophy and a four-day Suzuki off-road camp in Valencia, Spain, at this year’s Suzuki GB Guild Awards Ceremony.

This year the competition attracted 674 entrants from the company’s 150 car dealerships and 140 motorcycle dealerships in the UK.

All participants were required to sit four online assessments, with the results determining a total shortlist of 20 finalists, who then completed a series of practical tests at the company’s Milton Keynes training centre.

This high-profile competition is one of the best funded schemes in the industry, and provides a great incentive for dealership staff to improve their skills, thereby ensuring Suzuki customers are provided with the highest standards of after sales back-up and support.

“Our programme of comprehensive training to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of all departments within the dealership is a matter of great importance to us,” said Suzuki GB’s director of aftersales Denis Houston.

“It is one of the reasons why a number of key surveys over the past few years have confirmed that Suzuki dealers provide the very highest levels of customer satisfaction in the industry.

“It proves that our personnel development strategies within the dealer networks really are working.”
