CITY MP Stewart Jackson met with local firms Knuth Machine Tools and Global Rebar Services (GRS) at a reception held at the House of Commons by the Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA) to highlight engineering-based manufacturing.
Also present was the Minister for Business and Economic Secretary to the Treasury, Ian Pearson MP, who spoke to the assembled business people.

The reception provided Knuth and GRS with an opportunity to discuss their business and the support they require from the government and the opposition parties.

The reception was designed to highlight the engineering sector to Parliament and raise the profile of the lobbying work that MTA takes part in.

GRS managing director Paul Smith said: “It was extremely worthwhile to visit the House of Commons.

“ We were able to network with other guests and politicians, including Mr Jackson.”

Mr Pearson voiced his strong support for UK manufacturing, urging manufacturers to talk to the Government to “enable us to focus on areas where we can take urgent action to create the right environment for business”.
