CITY property consultants Carter Jonas has been instructed to sell land for residential development in the grounds of Huntly Lodge, in the parkland surrounding Peterborough's Best Western Orton Hall Hotel, in Orton Longueville.
Best Western Orton Hall is a Grade ii-listed, 19th century mansion in the Tudor style, with stable blocks dating from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. The original building was the southern seat of the Scots Marquesses of Huntly – part of the Cla
n Gordon and whose castle home was in the north east of Scotland – and the 3.5-acre site for sale is within the walled garden of the mansion’s lodge.

There are five plots with outline residential planning permission for sale at a guide price of about £325,000.

A design code is integral to the sale of the plots to ensure a high standard of design, layout and construction.

Carter Jonas is anticipating a lot of interest in the plots when the marketing programme gets under way, given the location and historical association.

Carter Jonas’ Paul Norton said: “Plots like this do not come forward for sale very often and neither does the opportunity to develop a very select and exclusive collection of homes in such a location.

“While the presence of the walled garden ensures privacy and the surrounding parkland is a great setting, the convenience of the location for the city centre and the region’s extensive road and rail network makes for a unique development opportunity.

“We have already registered a number of enquiries from developers and private interests alike.”
