Bourne-based developer Hawksmead is seeking planning permission for new homes in Oakham, alongside a novel development of homes and "live/work units"which could be used by local artists and craft workers.
The company wants to replace a number of existing derelict buildings in Main Road, Barleythorpe, with six new homes and create a further six new homes.

Four of the homes will be “affordable” properties with special financing arrangements.

The
company has also submitted two further planning applications, one for 17 affordable homes on a site adjacent to the existing Studyard development, and one to create a new area of public open space.

Larkfleet Homes, which is building and marketing the homes on behalf of Hawksmead, has already started work on the Studyard scheme to create another 26 homes, including five units which feature first-floor workshops built over a ground-floor garage.
