Glimmers of home-buying hope at the Water's Edge

TWELVE properties at Water's Edge sold in a month – that is impressive in these uncertain times. In any time, in fact.
I did wonder whether or not homebuyers were attracted to its lakeside views or the keen prices. Perhaps it was a combination of the two.
But it did seem that the development, in New Lakeside, Hampton Vale, Peterborough, was bucking the current trend. In the doom and gloom that is pervading the property market there may be, at least, a chink of light.
Developer David Wilson Homes sales success, over one month compared to 12 months, is even more impressive considering that a total of 31 properties were sold in its first year, from April 2007, when, arguably, the worst of the market conditions had not yet set in.
The secret of David Wilson's success? The developer targets the right people "exceptionally well," and has a "fantastic range" of financial incentives.
Regional sales director for David Wilson Homes South Midlands Ronel Segar said: "With a stunning selection of stylish and spacious homes set in the idyllic, new community of Hampton Vale, it is no wonder that Water's Edge is proving really popular with purchasers. What really makes the development stand out is the fantastic range of financial incentives available, combined with our first rate sales team who offer unparalleled customer service.
"We understand that moving home is one of the most important things a purchaser will ever do, so we endeavour to make moving as simple and as stress-free as possible. Our sales team are on hand every step of the way, from finding the best deal to suit individual needs to being on hand to give advice once a purchaser moves into their new home.
"Whether you are a first-time buyer, a young professional, growing family or just in need of a bigger or better home, Water's Edge has a stylish and spacious home for you, and you will soon settle into the peaceful and tranquil life at the development."
Maureen Bray (68), who recently purchased a four-bedroomed Cadeby home, commented on the most popular of incentives available.
She said: "When I visited David Wilson Homes' Water's Edge development in Hampton Vale, I told them all about my situation, and the sales advisor was really helpful and explained their Part Exchange scheme. They took care of everything for me and, what's more, I was able to stay in my own home until my new one was ready and I could move straight in."
Which was a comfort for Maureen, who had had three separate buyers pull out of buying her home and leave her ready to take her bungalow off the market. That would have scuppered her plans to move closer to her family in Hampton Vale.
