ENTERPRISING women in the Peterborough area are leading the way in business creation.
A new survey has found that 394 new companies led by female directors were registered in Cambridgeshire last year, and 7,609 female directors currently live in the area.

The study, called Women executives in the UK, has been published by research firm Gavurin.

Chief executive of Peterborough Chamber of Commerce John Bridge said: "These findings come as little surprise as women have become increasingly prominent within the local business environment in recent years.

"As a chamber, we are finding more and more women playing an active role not only in the networking side of business, but also within the commercial decision-making processes that have long been deemed a traditionally male arena.

"Where once they would have been dismissed, women are increasingly being given a platform, and many businesses are now realising the benefits that harnessing female perspective, creativity and vision can bring."
