Partners Amanda Quinn and Emilio Mangieri have teamed up in business to realise their professional dream.
The couple, who have more than 37 years of hairdressing experience between them, have opened their own hair salon.

And they have very clear aims for Eden Hair Studio – to offer a personal service in relaxing surroundings.

Amanda and Emilio, who live in Hampton Vale, Peterborough, met about four years ago when they worked together in another city salon.

When they were offered first refusal on premises in Oakleigh Drive, Orton Longueville, Peterborough, they didn’t hesitate.

“We love the location,” said Amanda.

“Owning our own salon was a long-held dream, and this was the perfect opportunity.”

Just two weeks later, the pair were standing outside the salon holding the keys, and paint brushes.

“The walls were dark purple and the whole place needed refreshing,” said Amanda.

“We also needed to sort staffing, the paperwork and products.”

The couple worked tirelessly for 10 days alongside willing family and friends, laying new floors, painting, furnishing and equipping the salon. And, right on time, they opened their doors, on July 1.

“That first morning was incredible,” said Amanda, who excels in the paperwork, admin and day-to-day running of the business.

“We welcomed old customers and new and everyone was so, positive about Eden Hair Studio which made all the work worthwhile.”

Amanda and Emilio, who has 30 years’ experience in hairdressing, have employed a stylist, Jemma Hankins, and an apprentice, Kayley Gretton.

And they’re keeping it in the family, too, with Amanda’s daughter, Danni, a nail technician, working from a designated space in the salon.

“We’ve always believed strongly that a haircut isn’t just about leaving the salon looking good,” said Amanda.

“It’s about making sure the customer has a hair style that suits their life, that they feel great with and that they can look after themselves.

“If we can deliver all those things, we’ll have achieved what we set out to achieve.”
