The Forum of Private Business (FPB) is warning that small firms could miss out on a free scheme to help them save money by minimising their water usage.
Registration for Rippleffect, which is a six-month initiative to be run by the government-funded Envirowise, closes on September 10.

The scheme provides independent and practical advice to businesses on minimising waste water and becoming more environmentally friendly.

"Given the fact that the economic downturn looks set to worsen before it gets better, the FPB is advising its members to apply now before it is too late," said Nick Palin, the FPB's director of finance and administration.

Businesses that previously have not used water efficiently could make savings of about 30 per cent.

Rippleffect is open to businesses of any size.
