The Cooks group of Garages, in Storeys Bar Road, Peterborough, has added the Hyundai franchise to its group, which includes Peterborough Audi, Cooks Volkswagen and Borocars Citroen.
The launch date for this latest acquisition is Saturday, August 16, when it will be fully operational, the services offered including both new and used Hyundais along with service and parts departments, body repairs and MOT facilities.

The new sh
owroom, which will be known as Cooks Hyundai, will be managed by Mark Turner, who has been employed by the group for more than seven years and has gained experience in all departments.

Group chairman Jonathan Cook said: “Acquiring the Hyundai brand is a great coup as it already has made a name for itself as a value for money and highly reliable product. Opportunities like this do not come along too often and I feel privileged to have been chosen to represent this marque in Peterborough and the surrounding area.”

Works slows for building firms

The East of England’s Construction Industry has seen workloads fall in the past three months at their fastest pace for more than 12 years, according to the RICS UK Construction Market Survey.

The survey claims that lack of availability of debt finance and the declining number of new housing developments are two of the key reasons behind this quarter’s dramatic fall.

The East of England research found that construction workloads declined at their fastest pace since the third quarter of 1995, breaking more than 11 years of uninterrupted growth – 20 per cent more East of England chartered surveyors working in the industry reported a fall than a rise.

Worries deprive workers of sleep

Money worries and the credit crunch biting is driving a wave of sleep deprivation across the UK workforce, a report by Travelodge has revealed.

Twenty two million (about 75 per cent) workers admitted getting less than the prescribed eight hours of sleep each night of the working week.

Topping the professional’s sleep deprivation poll are estate agents, who are only getting five hours and 50 minutes sleep a night. It seems the stress of a house price nose dive and slump in the market, is taking its toll on these professionals.

The study revealed that two professions facing rocketing fuel prices – lorry and taxi drivers – were the next two groups missing most sleep, sharing an average of just six hours and 16 minutes a night.
