MORE than 200 business people from the Peterborough area danced the night away at a May ball staged to raise cash for a national charity.
Delighted organisers say the fourth annual May Ball at the Haycock Hotel, in Wansford, near Peterborough, raised more than £10,000 for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC).

Chairman of the Peterborough Business Support Group for the NPCC, which hosted the Ball, Chris Collier, who is a senior partner at accountants Rawlinsons, said: "It was an excellent event. The food and the entertainment were extremely good.

"But we could not have made this so successful without the generosity of the people who attended."

Guest of honour was Peterborough City Council chief executive Gillian Beasley, who gave guests a brief outline of the work of the NSPCC, and said the charity existed not just to help children but also to provide help and guidance to parents.

The May Ball was sponsored by Anne Corder Recruitment, Ground Engineering, Norwich and Peterborough Building Society and Perkins, and was organised by Carol Bunning, of the Main Event.
