Associated British Foods has created a 5,942sq ft IT centre, employing 60 people, to serve the firm's operations across the UK.
The company has just agreed a 10-year lease for the newly built offices at Tyndall Court, in Commerce Road, and which w
ill become its IT Shared Service Centre.
The centre will provide IT infrastructure services to the UK-based companies within the ABF group including British Sugar, AB Agri, Silver Spoon, Twinings Ovaltine, Allied Bakeries, Ryvita and AB World Foods.
Centre IT director Rob Jones said: "This is a substantial investment in developing best-in-class services for the ABF group of companies.
"It underlines our commitment to the Peterborough area and to the companies based here."
Mr Jones added: "Tyndall Court is ideally situated within close proximity to some of our group companies, including British Sugar, which has its headquarters in Oundle Road, and AB Agri, which currently has new offices under construction at Innovation Way."
The letting was carried out by the Peterborough office of commercial agents Budworth Hardcastle.
Senior surveyor Marija Lysak said: "We are delighted that ABF has taken such a prestigious building for its new Shared Service Centre.
"The attractive offices are built to a very high standard, and are in keeping with the high profile image that ABF and its associated companies like to maintain.
She added: "This is an important strategic move for one of Peterborough's major employers."
The office unit was built by developers Gladman Developments, of Cheshire, and has been leased to ABF at a rental of £77,000 per year.
