IT was a real nail-biting affair in the last of the Allsorts Spring Series with the overall winner in doubt until the final points had been added up.
Lee Covell came top on the day with an impressive 74lb 8oz. He drew one of the top corner pegs and caught close in all day.

A favourable wind for Pete Molesworth Junior saw him catching on pellet up in the water to claim second spot with 49lb 8oz
.

A late burst of fish on pellet and paste saw Dave Arbon share joint third with Carl Stones.

Those fish in the last couple of hours gave Arbon the edge on the points front and it was just enough for him to take the series with 16 points. Second was Covell on 17 points with Molesworth third on 18 points.

JOHN Garner runs an annual charity match at Decoy Lakes and with so many fishing this year the Whittlesey angler had to use both Six Islands and Four Islands at Decoy to accommodate anglers wishing to participate.

Considering the winter-like conditions some excellent weights were recorded.

Top rod on Six Islands was John Bevis, who drew peg 10 and weighed in 70lb 4oz fishing a pellet and paste line.

Runner-up Tim Bates relied on caster and maggot from peg 12 to finish on 68lb 8oz with Matthew Lutkin third putting 50lb 4oz to the scales.

On Four Islands it was Steve Cole that took the honours with a level 57lb from peg four taken on pellet and sweetcorn. Mac Campbell came second with 46lb 2oz followed by Kevin Lee with a level 46lb.

ROOKERY Farm Fishery out at Pidley is fast gaining a fine reputation for top quality small carp action. Many feel that through the summer months three-figure weights are going to be recorded on this relatively new fishery.

In the latest Ramsey AS club match fished on the Jay Lake, Paul Kilby took the top spot with 63lb 4oz fishing pole and pellet on a variety of lines.

Runner-up was Roger Gowler, who weighed in 43lb, followed by Duncan Fowlis with 38lb.

WITH the Beastie Lake on the Decoy complex fishing well to up in the water tactics, Saturday's match-winner Steve Lane thought at first he would be out of the running after drawing peg 22 with a strong wind blowing into it.

He dismissed long pole line tactics concentrating on fishing cat meat at eight metres and took carp to double figures to finish well clear on 124lb 12oz.

Result: 1 S. Lane, Harlequins, 124lb 12oz; 2 B. Mason, Ringer Baits, 105lb 8oz; 3 R. Bell, JVAC, 89lb; 4 T. Dawson, VDE, 80lb 12oz.
