THERE has never been many matches arranged for the August Bank Holiday weekend for several years now but new Peterborough DAA match secretary Steve Goodrum has decided to put on a two-day festival next weekend on the much maligned Ferry Meadows complex.
It's a brave move but Goodrum has heard that a lot of bream have started to show at long last and has high hopes that roach will also be on the feed.

A good flush through and just a tinge of colour are going to make all the difference and he coul
d well be onto a winner. With very few big matches on he should be looking at a reasonable turn-out and hopefully some cracking stillwater sport.

For all the details or to book in give Steve Goodrum a call on 07749921798.

THIS weekend is very busy on the match front, particularly if you are entered into the two matches at Lovells Lakes at Tallington.

Tomorrow there is a carp match on the Old Lake with the draw at 7am. Fishing times are 8am-8pm. Tickets cost £16 from head bailiff Jimmy on 07709 756557.

Jimmy is also running the Jack Jeeves Memorial event on the smaller new lakes on Sunday. It's another long match so there could well be some huge weights recorded. Draw for this one will be at 8am, fishing 9am-5pm.

ROUND four of the King of the Fens takes place on the North Level Drain at Tydd Gote.

ALL the rain we had midweek will have done no harm at all to those anglers that enjoy fishing the rivers. The Nene in particular just needs colour and flow and will surely then hit top form.

On the Welland skimmers and the odd better bream have been showing and this weekend could well be the time to give it another try.

Hot pegs seem to be from Four Mile Bar Bridge down to the low numbers at Spalding.

I think you can expect some big weights from the fen drains this weekend. Glassmoor Bank has been producing some very good nets of tench and the Forty Foot Drain is also in good form.

TWO top stillwaters well worth a try over the next week look to be Weston Lake at Peakirk and Ross Lake Pode Hole. Both waters have been in cracking form producing top quality action for just about everyone that cares to wet a line.

Fixtures:

Tomorrow: Carp Open, Lovell's Lake, draw 7am ring 07709756557 for details; Whittlesey AA, Adult/Junior, Cock Bank, draw 1pm; Warmington AC, Junior Match, draw 2pm.

Sunday: Jack Jeeves Memorial Match, Lovell's Lake, draw 8am.
