ALL things being equal we should be in for a cracking weekend's action.
The weather forecast predicts some fine weather, roach are on the feed and with only a few odd matches around the area there should be plenty of hot pegs available or at least areas to head for.

The River Nene should see roach weights with the likes of Oundle, Elton, Wansford, Milton and Orton all fishing well.

Best news of all from anglers out and about this week is that at long last the North Bank has run into good form with double-figure weights being recorded.

The bottom end of the river has taken a long while to wake up, so I suggest you get on it now while the going is good.

There are just a few bream showing on the River Welland in the 400s and also at the bottom end at Spalding.

Bream anglers could give Ferry Meadows a try where hot pegs will be in the 90s on Gunwade and the low numbers on Overton.

Fen drains have once again been the mainstay of anglers' sport in the area. Some huge tench have been taken from Glassmoor Bank and also Tebbitts Bridge.

Bream, tench and skimmers have been recorded from Ramsey Narrows and with plenty of small fish showing on the Old Nene at Benwick there will be no shortage of action there.

The North Level Drain has been a big hit with match anglers this season. Thankfully there is a lot of water to go at so there's plenty of room for pleasure anglers too.

It's much the same on the South Holland Drain, where squatt, pinkie and groundbait is all you will need for a good day's sport.

Onto stillwaters and top of the list just has to be Railway Lakes at Whittlesey. The bigger of the two waters is in cracking form with anglers reporting up to 15 carp in a session, many well into double figures.

There is a vast array of baits on the market these days and at times I am sure it can be quite confusing but at Railway Lakes just pile in red maggot and it will not be long before the water comes alive with big carp.

Ross Lake at Pode Hole is another water in fine form and I have had some fine reports from those fishing the lakes at Rookery Farm Pidley.

No mater where you fish this weekend though I am very confident you will be going home with a smile on your face, the fishing is that good right now.

Predator anglers have found a few smaller pike showing on fen drains, but you may do better heading for the River Nene or better still give Ferry Meadows a try. Here you have the added bonus of a zander showing up. Dead baits will be the order of the day on the bait front, fished at long range at dawn or dusk.

On the drains and river it has to be a roving approach with silver or gold spinners. Keep on the move particularly if you are fishing the likes of Stanground or Castor Backwaters.
