A HEARTBROKEN father-of-two has spoken of his despair as police search for his wife who vanished two weeks ago.
Charles Paines has not seen his wife, Jo, since she left their home in Harrogate on Tuesday, November 19.
At 8.30am she cleared away the breakfast dishes, kissed her children and left on the short walk to work in a Shelter charity shop.
At 11am workmates said she looked ill and told her to go home. But she did not go home and was seen in Harrogate three hours later.
Mr Paines, 40, and the couple's children, Siobhan, 11, and Christopher, 13, are desperate to speak to her.
On the evening of Jo's disappearance, Christopher sent a text message to his mum's mobile phone saying "Where are you?" She rang back at 6.30pm and said she had no idea where she was, and was then cut off.
The family tried to ring her back but there was no answer. On Wednesday the phone went dead.
Mr Paines said: "As you can imagine this is a terrible time for the children and all they want is to speak to their mum. But they are coping well."
Voice
He added: "We have had no clues as to where she is and have heard nothing at all. We are just waiting to hear her voice and want her to come home. I am keeping an open mind on it.
"The police are continuing with their searches but they still have no idea where she may be."
The couple married in Harrogate 15 years ago. Jo doted on her children and was looking forward to Christmas, said Mr Paines. Police divers have searched stretches of water in Harrogate's Hookstone Woods and parts of the Crimple Valley for 39-year-old Jo who has been suffering from depression.
Police with dogs continued a search of woodland in the Hookstone and Hornbeam areas of Harrogate and officers also searched the countryside around the hamlet of Fiezor, near Settle, of which Mrs Paines is known to be fond. She spent her early years there.
Mrs Paines is 5ft 6ins, slim, and may be wearing dark trousers, a grey jumper with a red stripe and a knee-length beige sheepskin coat.
She had just a few pounds on her when she left home and no bank book, credit cards or, as far as Charles knows, any way of getting money.
Mr Paines said: "There are no suitcases missing, her clothes and jewellery are still here. We all love Jo dearly and are desperate for her to make some form of contact. We just want her to come home."
If you have any information about Jo call Harrogate police on 01423 505541 or the missing person helpline on 0500 700 700.
