May 2007: Helicopter tragedy rocks the community

2nd: BUSINESS tycoon Phillip Carter was among four victims in a shocking helicopter crash in woods just outside Peterborough.
Mr Carter, his 17-year-old son, Andrew, life-long friend Jon Waller and pilot Stephen Holdich were all killed when the helicopter plunged into woodland near Wansford. They were returning from Liverpool after watching the Champions League semi-final between the Reds and Chelsea.

The French-made Squirrel helicopter was heading for the Carters' home at Thornhaugh Hall, at Thornhaugh.

8th: FORMER US Vice-President and environmental campaigner Al Gore backed The Evening Telegraph's Go Green Campaign.

Mr Gore, who narrated the Oscar-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth, which highlighted the devastating impact global warming is having on the planet, praised The ET for its stand.

16th: STILL grieving, George Lindsey steeled himself to open a letter addressed to his late wife and was shocked to learn – he was dead.

The letter, addressed to wife Lily (83), also informed her that George's pension benefits were being cut off.

George (83), a highly-decorated veteran, was astonished to learn that the Department for Work and Pensions had made a terrible blunder.

23rd: A CITY dentist surgery suddenly shut its doors leaving patients struggling to get emergency treatment.

The Community First for Treatment surgery opened with a fanfare offering cut-price dental care at its practice in Eastfield Road.

But patients were shocked to find the doors locked, and a sign saying the practice had closed due to "unforeseen circumstances".
