After a meeting with police, the decision was reversed and deliveries continued in all parts of the city.

The ban on animal movement after an infected ram was found on a city farm, grounded the reindeer which were to be a star attraction at Peterborough Museum's Christmas craft fair.

Even Rudolph with his bright red nose could not find a way round the ban, and a museum spokeswoman said: "It's a terrible shame."

18th: IN an unusual move a city secondary school challenged a critical report by education watchdog Ofsted.

The Government inspectors gave Stanground College a "notice to improve" and slated the school for under-performing and producing inadequate standards.

However, school principal Malcolm Ellison put together a 30-page dossier criticising the report, saying it flies in the face of achievements at the college.

Mr Ellison admitted he knew of only one such appeal ever succeeding.

For months Channel 4 viewers had been following Revenue's rise to fame on the MobileAct Unsigned competition, but they were pipped at the post.
