THE most politically-correct circus ever is coming to Leeds next month.

Circus Starr, which does not use animals, has more clowns than any other British circus. Part of the profits from advance ticket sales will go to Leeds Infirmary's Neo Nata
l Baby Care Unit.

The big top family show comes to Woodhouse Moor at Woodhouse Lane, Leeds, on Saturday and Sunday, September 9 and 10.

The national tour, now in its 20th year, is calling at 40 towns and cities and boasts three of the world’s funniest clown acts including the George Alexis from Spain.

Eddie Pinder’s clowning antics feature a crazy car with a mind of its own, plate spinning with the best china and a do-it-yourself guide to wallpaper pasting.

Thrilling springboard acrobatics will be performed by gravity defying Juilios Troupe from Bulgaria. Live circus band the Wielkiego Cyrku Orkiestra, from eastern Europe will also entertain.

Laughter

Tony Wilkie Millar, of Circus Starr, said: “Whenever we visit a town or city we not only bring priceless joy and laughter, but also help to raise much-needed funds for hard-pressed community charities which depend on support from their area for their financial income.

“Since taking to the road 20 years ago we have raised more than £3million for local charities. We give money which comes from the advance sales of tickets to local businesses. The donations from these sales goes towards buying specialist equipment for hospitals, hospices and other worthy causes.”

Circus Starr trained celebrity violinist Vanessa Mae and model Caprice as part of a BBC Children in Need fund-raising stunt, when they performed a series of circus challenges.

There will be four two-hour shows, including matinees at 2.30pm on the Saturday and 2pm on the Sunday with shows at 5pm on both days. To book advance tickets call Dial-a-Seat on 0870 167 6177.
